There are a plenty of amazing ways to enjoy fresh local Outer Banks shrimp. This recipe is definitely a big hit in the summer, even though it contains heavy cream. It is not hard to prepare and can easily be adjusted with whatever vegetables or pastas you have on hand.
1 lb Outer Banks Shrimp – Peeled and De-veined
Pasta Medley – (Recommend Farfalle & Penne)
4 strips bacon
1 clove minced garlic
Some Green Beans
1 Red Pepper
1 tbsp Butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup white wine
Salt & Pepper
Boil water for pasta. Once it is boiling add pasta and cook until “al dente”.
Start by cooking the bacon in bite-size pieces until crisp. Remove bacon and most of the grease. Leave enough bacon grease to start cooking shrimp. Cook the shrimp on one side until they change color. Once you flip the shrimp add garlic and continue sauteing.
Next, add your medley of vegetables. Cook until tender. De-glaze the pan with white wine, cook until it reduces then add butter and cream. Simmer until it reduces then add your pasta and toss to coat.
